    Comments, Additional Information, References

The house at 928 Route 96 was built in 1845 for Jonathan Swift. It includes cobblestone barns. Structures are built of field stones. Richard Palmer blog.

"The Cobblestone Houses of Upstate New York", compiled by Dorothy Wells Pease. Research done in collaboration with Hazed B. Jeffery, supplemented with material furnished by Carl F. Schmidt, 1941. Reference the sixth paragraph on page 19.

The adjoining barns [to the home] were erected in the next decade and make this a unique complex. With the help of Carl Schmidt, the restoration was completed in the late 1960's. Since the barns were in great disrepair, the buttresses were added at this time. The Landmark Society "A Day in Phelps", page 2, 8/21/1971.
